Glass Blowing Program | Children's Classes | Adult Classes | Class Schedule
Maho Bay Camps continues free demonstrations of making glass objects from trash at the resort's Glass Studio. Conducted by the staff and various guest glass-artists, the demonstrations create custom glass pieces from recycled glass bottles by glass blowing, casting glass and flame working. Our two fulltime glass blowing artists are: Gregory Lee, who is an accomplished glass artist specializing in recycled glass and has been a fulltime artist at Maho since 2004; and Mariel Bass, who has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 3D/Glass. She comes to us from Martha's Vineyard Glasswork.

These very popular demonstrations are open to all our visitors and guests at no cost and are conducted at various times daily.

Beautiful pieces, worthy of fine gift shops, are available at the Maho Bay Camps store at very reasonable prices for our guests and visitors.

Through the leadership of owner Stanley Selengut, Maho Bay Camps has been reducing the waste stream by recycling glass bottles into functional elements for years. We are proud of our comprehensive recycling center with its glass crushers, kilns, annealing ovens, cardboard shredders and other tools that convert what was once considered waste into useful products that enrich the lives of those who make, purchase, or use them to enhance the local environment.

Maho initiated a Textile recycling program in November 2004. Our talented fabric artist, Carolyn Roust, transforms retired bed linens into works of art through creative dyeing and sewing skills. Colorful and fashionable sarongs, t-shirts, bandanas, handbags and a variety of home décor items are just a few of the handmade items created and sold at Maho's store and art gallery.

For more information on demonstrations and recycling programs, please contact Ginger Kreofsky (Ginger @ Maho.org) in the "Trash to Treasures" recycling center at Maho Bay Camps — (340) 776-6226.
